My expertise
Graphic Design
What excites me about graphic design is the coalescence of expressions into one visual theme, communicating ideas and evoking emotions. I help identify needs, collect information and create visions. Some of the work I've created includes, books, pamphlets, board games, packaging, presentations and technical documentation.
Production Design
Details are important! I find the nuances the most compelling parts to make a design whole. I focus on design elements such as image placement, color, typography and graphic layout. I equally pay attention to spelling and grammar. Whether the art is for print or web viewing, I know the set up details and keep organization a top priority. Opening a file is a fun task for me. I love to edit, reimagine and find solutions for troublesome files.
Illustration
I specialize in creating clean, scalable, digital art. My passion is fun, colorful, children's illustration and my analytical brain enjoys technical drawings with a focus on the details. I've illustrated stories for picture books, educational materials, scientific processes, maps, logos, iconography and one off sketches for clothing and products.
About Sara
Hello! I'm Sara, a graphic designer and illustrator living in Northern New Mexico. I was raised in the 'burbs of Detroit and earned my Bachelor Degree from Detroit's Wayne State University with a focus on international studies and industrial design. I worked in marketing research for indie furniture creators before moving to Philadelphia to earn my Master of industrial design at The University of the Arts. I enjoy explaining technical, industrial design processes with step by step visuals. This led to my love for graphic design. I've since worked for a range of companies in house and as a freelancer as a graphic designer, illustrator and production artist for over a decade. In addition, I'm proud of my many years of waiting tables as this contributed greatly to my skills of communication, understanding and patience. I'm an Army veteran and learned much about life, dedication and endurance while being stationed in South Korea and Ft Meade, MD as a signal collections processor for military Intelligence.
I love to seek adventures and explore the world near and far. I find comfort in nature, near mountains, and will always feel at home in the urban forests of Detroit and Philly. In my free time I'm with my family and friends, seeking and appreciating the deep meaning of life, cooking, creating art and renovating my home.
